Brief Description of Research Interest :
|
I'm a quantitative disease ecologist. I have an MSc in ecology and a PhD in Biological Physics. I use mathematical, statistical and computational methods to investigate the interactions of hosts and pathogens with each other and with their abiotic and biotic environment. My research focuses on the ecology of pathogens transmitted by arthropod vectors, such as mosquitoes, ticks, sandflies, biting midges and such animals. For the last 8 years, I've been working on a variety of systems such as dengue fever, West Nile virus, Hemorrhagic Disease of White-tailed deer, Lyme disease, as well as others. I'm interested in the combinations of data from many different sources, e.g. both epidemiological as well as phylogenetic information in the forms of phylodynamics and phylogeography for infectious diseases. I'm also interested in ecological complexities such as under-reporting and the estimation of parameter as well as structural uncertainty of models.
