Area of Research
Plant 'Omics'
Area of Expertise
Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Genomics, Metabolomics
Brief Description of Research Interest :
Aims and Objective: Plant 'omics' need combined knowledge from biology (Master's, Utkal University), biotechnology (my Ph.D- IIT Kharagpur), genomics (Postdoc, CCB@USM, Malaysia), metabolomics (Postdoc, University of Florida, USA) for a holistic understanding of plant function and life-cycle. Methodology: As a Postdoc, learned plant biotechnology and phytochemistry, then genomics, presently I am learning- plant metabolomics, with special interests in phenylpropanomics and terpenomics. Results: Established biosynthesis, phytochemistry and biological activity of sesquiterpenoids (Phytomedicine, Trees, LAM, AJCS, Plant Science, PDJ, AoB Plants, JOPR) and drafted genome of rubber tree (BMC Genomics). Future prospects: Interests in science administration, wider dissemination of science, networking, research and development, patenting, collaborations and networking, to work for a science-motivated NGO and a world-renowned pharma-company.
