Brief Description of Research Interest :

My research for the past six years has been focused on the understanding of the process of sarcomagenesis in the smooth muscle. I generated several mouse models that recapitulate the human disease and studied the molecular alterations that drive tumorigenesis. For this, much of my interest has focused on the characterization of mesenchymal stem cells derived from the bone marrow. Currently I am studying the biology of osteosarcoma. My main goal is to understand the biology of tumor-initiating cells in an effort to develop targeted therapies for complex karyotype sarcomas.
