Brief Description of Research Interest :
I am very interested in vascular biology and the importance of endothelial/vascular smooth muscle cells in different disease models. During my graduate studies I've focused on tumor associated angiogenesis and it's inhibition with current and new antiangiogenic therapies. The intent was to starve tumor cells of oxygen and nutrients that they receive from tumor cell induced blood vessels. Currently, in my postdoctoral lab, I am focusing on modeling hypertension via patient derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) that we differentiate into vascular cells (endothelial and smooth muscle cells).
