Brief Description of Research Interest :
|
After graduating from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University University (China), I was admitted as a PhD candidate student at the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College. There, I started my training in neuropharmacology under the guidance of Dr. Naihong Chen. My PhD research project focused on the establishment of a new animal model for Parkinson’s disease. I used a combination of techniques, including imaging, electron microscopy, molecular biology, stereotactic microinjection and animal behavior to established Rotenone mice model and test different drug candidate in different animal modelfor Parkinson’s diseases. During my PhD training, I not only learned experimental methods, but also gained experience in writing scientific papers.
Since September 2013, I started my postdoctoral training in Dr. Michel Baudry’s laboratory in the Graduate College of Biomedical Sciences at Western University of Healthy Sciences. Using Electrophysiology study in transgenic animal model, I have obtained preliminary results indicating that UBE3A regulates SK2 channel degradation and endocytosis, which may play critical roles in synaptic plasticity. I have also been investigating the roles of Calpain-1 and Calpain-2 during learning and memory with electrophysiology and animal behavior tests. I am very enthusiastic about this project and believe that my training and expertise make me well qualified to carry out the proposed research.
