Brief Description of Research Interest :

I am currently studying photophysical properties of generally recognized as safe (GRAS) chromophores in food systems. Monitoring interactions of these GRAS probes with food molecules gives information about the physical state of food. These physical properties directly relate to stability, quality, and safety of food system. For my PhD dissertation project, I have developed a fluorescence lifetime based assay using a long lifetime fluorophore (ADOTA) to detect and image hyaluronidase in cancer cells. This probe can be used for background free cellular imaging.
